Biphasic Sleep Pattern:
Scientist suggests Biphasic sleep is in many ways better than monophasic sleep. In monophasic sleep you sleep for 8 to 9 hours at a stretch one time a day. However, in biphasic sleep you sleep for 5 to 6 hours during the night and take a nap for 32-90 minutes during the night. This is said to be the most natural sleep pattern. Taking a nap during the day can help you improve your brain functioning. You will stay alert, your memory and learning ability increases. Your mood lifts. You wouldn’t feel tired while doing work. It is especially good for people living in urban areas as sleeping as longs at a time is not possible in the modern lifestyle.
Between 8 pm to 12 pm
Sleeping between 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. is said to be the best time to fall asleep. It is the time when your body is the most tired. When you fall asleep right after you lay on bed you are more likely to go get REM sleep. (The deepest stage of sleep cycle). Being in deep sleep during 12 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. is a good idea, this is the most peaceful throughout the day. For people who sleep monophasic, sleeping between 8 p.m to 12 a.m is must.
When you sleep after 12:00 a.m. you will find it hard to fall asleep. Staying awake on your bed until late at night it affects your sleep cycle in the long run. When you start to avoid sleeping right after you come to bed the body adapt itself into thinking that you are not supposed to sleep. So when you really want to go to sleep, you would not be able to. It is suggested that you try to sleep right after you go to bed between 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.
1 pm to 3pm
This time is the best time for taking a nap, right in the middle of the day. Sleeping during this time can help you stay alert for rest of the day.
