Are you planning to sleep for long hours this weekend? Beware. Don’t make sleeping for more than 8 hours a regular thing. A recent study has concluded that those who make a habit of sleeping more than 8 hours are prone to early death.

Researchers at Keele university had studied the sleeping pattern of three million people from 1970 to 2017, and they have publish their findings in the journal of american heart association. Their study shows that sleeping more than eight hours a day can lead can become a marker of elevated cardiovascular risk and it also shows that it increases the heart disease by 44%.

Speaking to the mirror, head of the study Dr. Chun Shing Kwok, states: “Our study has an important public health impact in that it shows that excessive sleep is a marker of elevated cardiovascular risk. If excessive sleep patterns are found, particularly prolonged ­durations of eight hours or more, then clinicians should consider screening for adverse ­cardiovascular risk factors and ­obstructive sleep apnea. [It] is a serious sleep disorder that occurs when a person’s breathing is interrupted during sleep.”

So excessive sleep will increase the chances of compromising your own cardiovascular and mortality. So, instead of sleeping for long, get out and do some activity.
